Differen is an easy-to-apply acne treatment that comes in a gel or cream. Though it may work if applied correctly and used over a long period of time, it is probably not worth the trouble. Most see their acne worsen or experience more breakouts for several weeks or months before the product starts to show results. This product also initially dries out your skin, causing peeling, redness, or sores.
By Haleigh,
I've used this product for over a month now, and have barely noticed any results. I don't think this product is worth it.
By Lucy,
I didn’t have acne or pimples but my sister does. She has used this product 4 about 3 months, no major improvements so far as I've noticed.
By Sarita Salazar,
I am using Differin for almost two months now, and it only breaks my face out worst.
By Surtur,
My experience with this product wasn't in the least bit enjoyabe, I went to a dermatologist hoping she could help me with my acne problem (I curse genetics!) She recommended. What really bothers me now as I think back on it, she didn't really ask about my skin type. Maybe that was the key. (dry/oily combination). Anyway I tried Differin and the other suggested products as well. At first it seemed okay but it quickly escalated to dry irritated skin, turns out I was in the small percentage to have bad results! What made it so much worse was that the moisturizer I was using wasn't for MY face or skin type but was my mothers and had a lot stronger ingredients that I should've been avoiding! The results were far from glamerous... hopefully something in the 'Top 5 will be the solution, because this product and Proactiv have done far more bad than good! =/

This will dry out your skin like crazy! My skin is more irritated, red and broken out since I started using the product (been using for about 2 weeks). I honestly don't think it's even worth trying.

I have been using Differin for a little over 2 months. Great results. I had moderate Acne. It flared up around jaw line and neck a bit. So I used both Minomycin and Differin. Apparently this is the best combination as recommneded by the Global Alliance - a team of dermatologists that evaluate the best treatment for Acne and they been going at that for years. So Differin does cause breakout but it works really well to stop new microcomedon from forming which apparently is the precursor to acne. So I vouch for Differin and it is also the best form of maintenance. Now I have no more acne and I used differin to maintain and I plan to use it for at least 6 months. Guys and girls - give it a try and you need to perserve with it.

I've been using it for quite some time. It works during my teenage but it doesn't help when I was in my late 20s. It makes my skin dry and I have severe peeling around my chin.

There is Differin in .01 and .03 concentration. The version my dermatologist prescribed was the .03 gel. I was scared using it at first as everyone had negative things to say about flare ups, drying out, burning sensations, etc. I am pleased with this product. I have really bad acne on my forehead and within four days, it made an improvement. I never broke out on my forehead but I did have a few pimples come up on my temples. The Differin really cleared those up quickly so it wasn't like I broke out and had to deal with it for weeks. My skin is not dry as I do moisturize in the morning (I use Aveda Green Science and alternate with Peter Thomas Roth SPF Moisturizer and PTR Mega Rich Intensive Anti-aging Cellular Creme). It's been a little over a month now and I really am excited that my follow up appointment with my derm revealed that Differin may be used as an anti-aging defense treatment as well so it is safe to apply to the entire face to help minimize and keep away wrinkles. I am all for that! Thanks Differin.
