Perricone MD Skin Care
Perricone MD Skin Care sounds like it gives consumers a clinical approach to acne treatment, but we have learned reviewing products that just because a product’s name makes it sound legitimate, you can’t know how effective it will be until you look at the ingredients.
We have analyzed Perricone MD Skin Care, but we will let the facts speak for themselves.
About Perricone MD Skin Care
Developed by Dr Perricone, who is known for introducing the top 10 superfoods, PerriconeMD Skin Clear provides an “introductory collection” which includes a cleanser, a toner, a spot treatment, and a moisturizer. Individual pieces sell for anywhere from $30-$55 per product. However, the whole kit retails for $50. Individual pieces are based around ingredients such as green tea, salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, and aloe vera.
Warning about Perricone MD Skin Care
The use of nanoparticles in personal care products known as cosmeceuticals poses a generally unrecognized but major public health hazard, warns the Cancer Prevention Coalition. “Nanoparticles, less than 1/10,000 of a millimeter in size, readily penetrate skin, and can invade underlying blood vessels and produce body-wide toxic effects, including brain degenerative disorders, and nerve damage,” stresses CPC Chairman Dr. Samuel S. Epstein.
Conclusion
To be honest, when we saw a line produced by Dr Perricone, we had high expectations. However, what we found was a line of average products with every day ingredients you can find just about anywhere for a fraction of the cost. Moreover, it uses benzoyl peroxide, which, while common, can be extremely irritating to the skin. We would not recommend any product using benzoyl peroxide, and PerriconeMD is no exception.
More importantly, we found several articles that call out Perricone MD Skin Care specifically for it’s use of nanoparticles, which have been linked to dangerous skin conditions and even fatalities. We would definitely recommend finding something else.
