When I first used Proactive it worked, the bumps on my forehead disappeared. Then after a while, it didn't work as well as it used to. Over time it made my face swell up so much i would have to skip school.

I tried it about 7 years ago, and had really good results. My skin is just normal/combination, with very few, but stubborn and long-lasting breakouts. In the kit that I got, there was an oil-free hydrating spf15 moisturizer. That had to be the reason my face didn't dry out or break out. Yes, even with acne you need to MOISTURIZE! The 2 drawbacks were: a)the monthly shippings and changing addresses so often. ...and b)my fingertips got so dried out that they peeled and got so raw and bloody, that no amount of hand lotion worked, and I had to wear band-aids quite often. Strange but true

This did not work at all. It left my face dry and hard, I hated it after using it for only 5 days and the lotion burned my skin more than the toner did. I cancelled my order for the next shipment after only 2 weeks, I was not going to waste any more money on Proactiv. I would never advise anyone to get this product. The Proactiv people need to give me my money back and then some because my face is actually worse. Never again!!!!!!!!!!

The product Proactiv wasn't always reliable for my acne problems. I've been using Proactiv for over a year now and it tends to not work all the time like I need it to. It stains my towels, gives off a strong odor, dries out my skin and makes it oily, and prevents only certain types of acne. I am in sports, so I tend to sweat a lot and my face ends up irritated, red, and not clear!

About four year ago I saw this ad on tv about Proactiv .. and I thought this would be it this is going to get me clear skin. So one day I found it in a mall and bought it.. which costs a lot of money I have used it for four years and still I have acne. Yes I know that its not going to work with everyone.. but still gosh! I wished it worked for me.. I still have acne and I am waiting to find out what will work for me....

My son and I both have been using proactiv for about 2/3 months. It seemed to work at first, but then the acne came back and looks worse now than before. It will start to go away for a couple of days and then it just comes right back.

Proactiv is a waste of time and money. It worked for about a month and than my face dried out worse than it ever has been. I tried to call and cancel and it took me THREE CALLS and they still kept sending me stuff. Their green T moisturizer doesn't moisturize. I do not recommend this product. I also do not recommend Sheer Cover make-up. I do however recommend Bare Essentials.

I bought Proactiv (full price) and tried it for 2 weeks. After 1 week my skin started drying out in a weird way. I did not have severe acne but breakouts and very oily skin and they recommended the Moisturizing Kit, after 2 weeks I had to send it back (double of what I paid in shipping to have them send it to me). My skin became like dry, cracked leather and was extremely uncomfortable to even smile. The product began to sting, deep wrinkles started to form around the edges of my eyes and it DOES bleach your towels and clothes. I was very unhappy with the results, and had to get a Oily skin cleansing routine trio from Neutrogena, have been using it for 2 weeks to bring my skin somewhat back to normal at HALF the cost and no club to join. I am satisfied with my skin now and would like to warn people of how strong proactiv is. Just wasn’t for me. Thank you for letting me vent!

I have been using Proactiv for about 2 weeks now. At 1st it worked really well then it was like the whole left side of my face was burned. That has gone now but I still have pimples and sores from where it was it looks like it is slowly going, I’m still using it just hoping that it will work maybe it just takes a bit of time. I just really want clear skin I hate my skin.

I have been using Proactiv for about 10 years. It works great. Everyone who says it's a waste of time and money should realize everyone has different skin. I have a very fair complexion. I don't use all three steps every time I wash my face, so it doesn't dry out at all. Yes, it stains towels and that is annoying. Acne is more annoying. So while everyone bags on Proactiv, my review is...it works great for me.

I've just recently bought this Proctiv Solution acne care. I've been seeing it on televison adds for about 3 months before actually buying it. But of course, you can never really be sure about televison adds really working. So I decided to finally buy a monthy supply of the product, and it says on the paper they give with it, “You may break out at first, but it will eventually fade”... But I'm still breaking out! I'm reading these other reviews and I totally agree with the smell of this product. It is disgusting! They also say in the booklet, smell is spontaneous... Well think again!.. I still have about 2 weeks supply left, but I don't think I'll be buying this product EVER AGAIN!!!

For all the people that dis this product should first think that everone is different and reacts diferently to everything. Proactiv does indeed work and ive tryed it , but you cant stop using it , as long as you continue to use it on a regular basis it will continue to give great results. and have healthy habits foods and lifestlye it works perfect.

I guess I'm just listening to the hype so I bought a 3 month supply. I have only been using it a couple of weeks and my skin is just dry. It is actually flaking. I hope to see improvements in the next couple of weeks or its going back!

I have used Pro Active Soloutions for three months. I have found it to be of no benefit at all really. It reduces a little redness on the spots themselves but I still have that really pesky clustering of whiteheads! It is terribly drying too which makes my skin over compensate in the sebum department causing even more spots! Not really a product I will recommend.

I am a 43 year old woman with blackheads on my face with black spot and acn. I have tried every product. Every otc product nothing seems to help. I even tried Proactiv, it just burns my face. My skin type is oily to dry in some places. The most thing that bothers me is the black spot, and my skin feels rough when you run you palm over it. I bought Proactiv after my boyfriend and I struggled with acne for about a year. After the first few applications I thought it was really working. But those results soon faded, and left me with stinging, sore, and peeling skin. The skin around my eyes and mouth were like crocodile skin - even though I did not apply the cleanser or toner there. I still have 3 months worth of product, but will not be using it. I live a healthy life with a good diet and plenty of exercise, so there is no reason for it to not work! Its a horrible product and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone!

If your face has an over excess of oil it will take out that over excess and make your skin more balanced. If your skin is too dry or balanced correctly then don't use it, other wise it works perfectly. I have used Proactiv for not very long but its made my skin clearer and more balanced. I feel that Proactiv is a very well used face wash if done right.

Proactiv lumps all acne sufferers in the same basket. You can't treat an oily skinned 14 year old boy with the same product as a 38 year old woman who has hormonal problems. It bleaches your clothes, drys out your skin and will make it 10 times worse in the long run. It burns and inflames the skin. Find the root cause of your breakouts first, hormones, oil, hereditry, and treat that problem not try to bleach away the pimples!!!!!!

I've used Proactiv for years with great results, although being a more 'mature’ client (40+) I've noticed if I run out and don't use it for a few days I get breakout. Also my big negative is I've gone through SO MANY towels as this product bleaches them!! Yes whether I've rinsed or washed my face and/or hands afterwards, when I dry them I have big bleach marks on my towels. The trick, stick to white towels.

I have used Proactiv for two years now this December,and yes it works good for a little while but there are effects I don't like. I don't like that my skin is really really red and that at first my acne was gone from underneath the skin now its back. I do agree that it has a very weird odor after a week or two that you have the bottles I don't like it. But I do like the mask(refining mask. I put it on before I go to sleep at night and when I wake up in the morning its gone(the pimples). I am looking for another acne product so if you could give me some addvice let me know. Thanks.

I have been using Proactiv for several months now. The first week it dried out my skin and burned but I decided to stick with it anyway. I had one reocurring pimple that would not go away and I noticed after a few months the product prevented the pimple from returning. However, as time went on, the pimple returned, as well as, the skin around my eyes begin to wrinkle and didn't look healthy. The dryness and burning would return off and on and blemishes didn't clear. Basically, my acne and clear skin came to a complete stand still. I've came to conclusion that Proactive has run it course and its time to move on. I wouldn't say its a horrible product but I think it can only do so much for so long.

I ordered Proactiv about 2 months ago. I really thought it would improve my acne problem seeing all those adds on tv and stuff. At first, it did start to work, but as I kept on using it, my acne problem got worst. Before I would get like 1 or 2 pimples. After using Proactiv I would have like 5 pimples at a time. It was just really disgusting, and it would dry my skin too much. So I decided to switch to something better, and hey it worked. But one thing's for sure, I'm never using Proactiv again.

I have had horrible acne since I first started having children. Hormones...oh sigh...I bought Proactiv on the strong advice of Jessica Simpson. That alone should have been a warning that it would only be worth my time for a few days. I used it and used it. I followed all of the instructions to the letter. Like many other reviews that I have read about the product, it dried me out. Flaky patches on my chin and nose were the worst. Needless to say, I returned it and took advantage of the six week money back guarantee. I now use Murad Acne care products(part of the Ulta line) and they are perfect.

I've been using Proactive for almost 3 months now, and my experience is pretty much how everyone else has described. At first it showed a little bit of improvement, but not much. Just in the past couple of weeks, my skin has become extremely dry, even though I use the lotion and oil free moisture. Speaking of oil, my face has a tendency to get extremely oily very quickly, which is very embarassing at school and work, so the Proactiv quiz which recommended I use the Daily Oil Control and Oil Free Moisture with the system, and it did not help at all. My skin is just as oily as before. My advice: don't listen to the celebrities... they don't exactly have the same problems the rest of us do.

Believe me Proactiv ain't that good! I am 15 and have had acne since I was 9. I started getting it bad when I was 13. All Proactiv does is make it disapear for a while like maybe 2-3 days ... makes your skin really red and VERY dry! Okay, I've been using proactiv and it made my skin SO DRY AND SOOO TIGHT that I cant even move my face, not to mention it's peeling off everywhere. Without pressuring me to buy something, lol, what do you think I should do? I'm REALLY stuck, I don’t know whether or not I should get off proactiv or will my face be destroyed? I tried proactive for about a year when i started using the product my skin started to get worse. when i called proactive they told me that my skin had to get worse before it got any better. so for about another six months i kept paying them to basially make my face worse. i was very disapionted in the fact that i spent all that money to help my skin, my confidence and all i basically did was ruin my skin even more.

Several months ago, I had surgery in which one of my ovaries was removed. It caused my hormones to go crazy and I started getting these pimples all over my face. I decided to try proactiv to see it if would control them. It has proven to be a nightmare for my skin. For the first few days it seemed to dry out the pimples but after that it started to burn. So, I decided to use only the toner and moisturizer for a while and it got worse. Well, my end result is crocodile, scaley, burnt looking skin and horrible itching and that's from only about two weeks. I knew that your commercials said it was for acne but with celebs like P.Diddy saying he used it for pimples (bumps), I thought it would be o.k. Well, I was wrong about that. Just to let you know, "I am not a happy customer."

Proactive - was very light well and was ok going on. After 2 days, my skin became very sensitive around the eyes and was chemically burned. I also noticed that I had fine lines and wrinkles on my eye lids that I've never had before. It makes where foundation and eye shadow and disaster. It's been only 5 days and I'm return the product. I used the moisturize but my face was still dry and flaky looking. My complexion also looked like I was sick.

I am surprised at all the users finding that it was so irritating or not working for them. I did use Proactive for about 6 months, yes it did dry out my skin,. but I just used the moisturizer. My skin is 'mature' and did help with my breakouts. As someone commented on their review, everybody's skin, hormone level, etc. is different, so you may only need to use the face wash, another day, wash and toner, etc etc. But most important is to still moisturize! I am ording this product for my 17 year old son.

You people are so silly, I have been using Pro Active for probably 2 years now and I have the most perfect skin I could possibly have. even my facialist asked me what in the world was I using to keep my skin so clear and even toned. The thing is you have to learn you skin. When to use each product, when not to, when its dry slow down and use it only once a day or maybe skip a day use a good moisturizer maybe not just theirs. Buy some cheap white towels for your face so they don't stain (big deal) its the peroxide. Dont rub your face raw with the product it has grains for that purpose LEARN YOUR SKIN It has been a benificial product in my life and my skin is flawless now dont give up on the product after a couple of weeks, after all how long have you had bad skin nothing comes easy.

I have not tried proactiv,but my sister did, and she said it bleached everything it touched,did not help her skin,and made her face inflamed and red.I do not reccommend this. Even though everyones skin is different,it seems to affect most people in a negative way. I HIGHLY reccomend Murad!It works in after a day or two,depending on your skin condition.I use it, and now I am BLEMISH FREE!It may sting when you apply it,but that means it's working!!

I suffered from really bad acne from age 25 to 31 when I finally tried Proactive. In all those years I had tried so many of so called acne treatments, went to dermatologist who gave me antibiotics for half a year, tried homeopatics...nothing worked. I was very sceptical about proactive, because I basically gave up all hope that there is actually a treatment that really works. But then I gave it a try and it DID work! The first product out of like 50 I have ever tried that actually really works. It also cleared acne scars I had. The only bad thing about it is, that it is really strong, it made my face swollen, itchy, burning, it actually hurt a lot. I was thinking about giving it up, but it worked for acne so I wanted to keep using it as well. I eventually figured out that if I don\\\'t use the tonique and the repair lotion then it is fine. The cleansing milk itself keeps my face acne free. There is no need to use the other 2 things (in my case) that are irritating like hell. Good luck to everyone.

I started using Proactiv 6 months ago and am still having major break outs. I have been using it once to twice daily. My face will get burny and itchy at times threwout the day as well. As Allison said, the Peroxide in it bleaches out my towels and face cloths. So, not only am I looking for a new acne treatment, but new towels and facecloths as well. I do understand that you have to use it for a few months to truly get down into the deep pores, but come on 6 months is a long time. My son used proactive for several months. There may have been a difference the 2nd week or so then his acne returned full force. He continued with Proactive to give it a fair trial but it just never happened.

I gave it a try. Did not see results until a month in use. during the first week, my skin turned inside out, and the acne look kind of bad(this suppose to happen). after the third week it slowly disappeared. fourth week it went away. I have extremely oily skin with average of 8-10 pimples a day to pop and 2 cyst and 1 eye stye. Yes proactive works, but it sometimes goes on and off and bleach color clothing. Another bad is that this product after discontinue, to some users it may be even worse than they started. I had about 15 PIMPLES all on my mustache. YES, it grew back every few hours until 3 weeks later i tried simple clean and clear products at your Target or Walmart. Same thing but cost me 15 bucks for the 3 piece. I am looking at exposed and giving it a try.

I tried ProActive and had the same results. It seemed to work for a while and then w/in a month or so it seemed to have almost no real effect. I might have been using any other o.t.c. cleaner. What really upset me was the fact that there was no warning about the bleaching effect of the cleanser or lotion. Many clothes and towels were ruined while using the product. Definitely not worth it.

I used Proactive from the time I was 17 up until I was 19. I waited, and waited for it to work. After a few months I called only to be told to give it a little longer. Well as I gave it a little longer, all I got from it was deep, painful under the skin bumps that I had never had before using the product. Finally, we called and said that was enough, only to be told that Proactive isn't for people who have severe acne... I found this hilarious considering, I only use to get 3 or 4 small blemishes and bumps ever so often. After using Proactive, I had full blown acne that has left horrible scars. I now use the SkinID line and it works miracles... slowly its fixing the damage proactive has done. SkinID is something everyone should try as everything is made to fit every customer and their lifestyle. I love SkinID!

Worked in the beginning, never cleared my skin completely, and then didn't work at all after about 6 weeks. Smelled terrible, bleached my towels and clothes, dried my skin, caused it to break out worse in the end. My teenage daughter tried it and it made her skin worse as well. Don't do it, don't waste your money!
